Lombok, April 26, 2025 – In commemoration of National Disaster Preparedness Day (HKBN), PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), in collaboration with Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), initiates a Nationwide Disaster Preparedness Simulation involving 6,620 schools across Indonesia. This initiative serves as an educational and preventive effort in facing disasters and sets a record with the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for the most extensive simultaneous disaster simulation regarding the number of schools and participants involved.

The event is attended by Head of BNPB, Lieutenant General Suharyanto, S.Sos., M.M.; Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, Dr. H. Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, S.IP., M.Si.; and Deputy for Disaster and Social Conflict Management Coordination at the Ministry of Human Development and Culture, Dr. Lilik Kurniawan, S.T., M.Si.

Conducted in a hybrid format, the main event takes place at the Graha Bhakti Praja Building in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara, and is also attended online via Zoom Meetings. Under the theme “Building Preparedness from an Early Age,” the program aims to instill a culture of disaster readiness among school-aged children as part of developing a resilient and adaptive society. In addition to schools, the simulation involves government agencies, businesses, houses of worship, shopping centers, and local communities across various regions.

BNPB Head, Lieutenant General Suharyanto, emphasizes that disaster management is a shared responsibility that no single institution can handle. “We must improve our ability to respond to disasters because no institution can work alone. If we unite, we can face any disaster. Earthquakes and tsunamis may be unpredictable, but we must always be ready,” he states.

UT supports this campaign through various complementary activities such as educational webinars, workshops, simulation kick-off programs, and public awareness campaigns. UT also participates in the HKB Run and donates 2,025 tree seedlings to be planted as part of vegetation-based disaster mitigation efforts in disaster-prone areas.

The primary goals of National Disaster Preparedness Day 2025 include raising public awareness and alertness through education and regular evacuation drills, gathering best practices from previous disaster experiences, and ensuring inclusivity in preparedness training—especially for persons with disabilities.

“We believe disaster resilience must be built from an early age. Through active participation in this initiative, we hope to foster a generation that is risk-aware, responsive, and capable of protecting themselves and others during emergencies,” says Himawan Sutanto.

HKBN, initiated by BNPB, is observed annually on April 26. This marks the enactment of Law No. 24 of 2007 on Disaster Management, which signifies a paradigm shift from reactive to preventive disaster response. Since its inception in 2017, HKBN has evolved into a national campaign to cultivate disaster awareness across all levels of society.

UT’s collaboration with BNPB, thousands of schools, and various cross-sector stakeholders nationwide represents a strategic step toward building a participatory and sustainable culture of disaster awareness. UT firmly believes disaster preparedness education invests in a more resilient future when facing threats and managing disasters.
