Amid global efforts toward clean energy and environmentally friendly technology, small steps taken together lead to significant change. This is the spirit behind the collaborative research conducted by PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) and the Vocational School of Gadjah Mada University (SV-UGM), a project that goes beyond machines and aims for a greener future.

Over three months, from late March to May 2025, students from the Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Management Program at SV-UGM immerse themselves in the field, testing and comparing the efficiency of two types of injectors local and genuine Komatsu on a Komatsu PC195LC excavator unit. UT’s Semarang Branch serves as a real-world laboratory where students learn, experiment, and innovate.

More than just a research project, this initiative embodies the spirit of sustainability. The main focus is to determine how injector type affects fuel consumption, exhaust emissions, and component durability during heavy equipment work cycles. Throughout the process, students receive guidance not only from lecturers but also from experienced UT technicians, fostering a collaborative learning environment aligned with industry needs.

This research gives new meaning to the collaboration between education and industry. It bridges the gap between the classroom and the real world, between theory and practice, delivering tangible impact.

The partnership between UT and SV-UGM is not new. Over the past few years, it produces a range of initiatives—from developing environmentally friendly electric tractors to heavy equipment competitions to mechanical fairs. The collaboration focuses on developing more efficient excavator injection systems, integrating advanced monitoring technologies, and adopting innovations that support Indonesia’s energy transition.

Through this collaboration, the company aims to be part of the solution—driving better technology, greener industries, and shaping vocational graduates who are highly skilled and environmentally conscious. UT believes that sustainability is not just about technology, but also about sincere collaboration, an unrelenting passion for learning, and the belief that the future can be built together through innovation.
