Workplace safety is a top priority in the mining industry, where every second of preparedness can be the key to saving lives. Turangga Resources Group demonstrates this commitment through its achievements at the 4th Kalimantan Fire & Rescue Challenge. The competition is organized by the Kalimantan Mining Emergency Response Professionals Association (PPTDPK) from July 27 to August 1, 2025, in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan.
“The achievements prove that the commitment to workplace safety and emergency preparedness is firmly embedded in our operational culture. Turangga Resources continues to strengthen the capacity of its rescue teams to be ready for all kinds of emergencies,” says Leonardus Indriarto, EHS Department Head of ABB.
The six-day competition features various categories, ranging from the opening ceremony to the trench rescue scenario, flood water scenario, fire fighting scenario, rope rescue scenario, theory assessment, firefighter fitness drill, and closing ceremony. All of the activities are designed to test speed, accuracy, technical skills, and team coordination in handling critical situations in the field.
Two subsidiaries of Turangga Resources bring home achievements from this event. PT Suprabari Mapanindo Mineral (SMM) delivers consistent performance by winning four awards: 3rd Runner-up in Fire Fighting Scenario, 3rd Runner-up in Flood Water Scenario, 1st Runner-up in Theory Assessment, and 2nd Runner-up in Firefighter Fitness Drill. Meanwhile, PT Asmin Bara Bronang (ABB) achieves 2nd Place in Trench Rescue Scenario, 3rd Place in Vehicle Firefighters Scenario, 3rd Place Overall Winner, and Runner-up awards in Theory Assessment and Firefighters Fitness Drill.
This accomplishment reflects the high quality of human resources within Turangga Resources Group, particularly regarding technical competence, quick decision-making skills, and team coordination under pressure. Such preparedness is crucial in ensuring operational safety within the mining environment.
The Kalimantan Fire & Rescue Challenge serves as both a competition and a collaborative forum among mining companies to exchange knowledge and best practices in emergency management. Through this activity, industry safety standards are expected to improve further, in line with the growing need to effectively face field challenges.
For Turangga Resources Group, this achievement is not merely the result of intensive training but a tangible manifestation of its continuous commitment to fostering a safety culture across all operations. Active participation and recognition in this competition serve as motivation to maintain, strengthen, and enhance the performance of its emergency response teams in the future.
