Supporting Young Generations to Create Sustainable Innovations, United Tractors Presents SOBAT Competition 2025

 

Jakarta, October 16, 2025 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), in collaboration with Yayasan Karya Bakti United Tractors (YKBUT), once again holds the SOBAT Competition 2025, an annual innovation competition now entering its seventh year. This year’s competition carries the theme “Building Excellent and Adaptive Human Resources to Achieve Sustainability.” The program aims to foster an innovative spirit and serve as a platform for students, university students, and educators to share ideas that bring benefits to society and the environment. The series of activities runs for five months, from June to October 2025, with the winners announced during UT’s anniversary celebration on October 16, 2025.

“Through SOBAT Competition 2025, UT remains committed to providing space for creative ideas that generate positive and sustainable impacts for society. We believe that national progress begins with young generations who possess a strong spirit of innovation and adaptability toward change. We also ensure that everyone, including friends with disabilities, has equal opportunities to contribute and showcase their best potential,” says Himawan Sutanto, Corporate Communications Manager of United Tractors.

Since its launch in 2019, SOBAT Competition consistently serves as a platform for the younger generation to present their best works and innovations. This year, the competition is divided into seven categories: Senior High School, Vocational High School, Vocational Teaching Factory (TeFa), Polytechnic or University, General Teachers, General Lecturers, and Disability Group.

Various subthemes encourage the creation of relevant and practical innovations in addressing current challenges. The judging panel consists of experts from diverse industries and academic institutions, including representatives from UT, YKBUT, UT School, PT Astra International Tbk, PT Pamapersada Nusantara, PT Global Service Indonesia, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Politeknik Astra, Yayasan Autisme Indonesia, AXIOO, as well as academics from Swiss German University, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Diponegoro, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Politeknik Negeri Lampung, and Akademi Inovasi Indonesia.

SOBAT Competition continues to receive positive responses from various educational levels, ranging from secondary schools to universities. This enthusiasm is reflected in the increasing number of submissions each year from 848 innovations in 2024 to 1,028 innovations in 2025.

This year also marks a special milestone with the introduction of a new category: the Disability Group, dedicated to active students from special education institutions (SMALB, SMKLB, or equivalent) and universities. This category includes participants with sensory, physical, intellectual, and mental disabilities. The inclusion of this category demonstrates UT’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and empowerment for all members of society.

The competition consists of three main stages. First, participants submit a resume or a short description of their innovation. Those who pass the first stage proceed to submit papers, prototype designs, or posters for further assessment. The final stage involves a presentation session, where participants showcase their developed prototypes before the panel of judges. Throughout the selection process, participants also receive guidance through webinars, coaching clinics, and mentoring sessions to refine and enhance their innovations.

Through SOBAT Competition 2025, United Tractors reaffirms its commitment to fostering innovations that create tangible benefits for society and contribute to sustainable development.
