Samarinda, 13 November 2025 – As a commitment to environmental conservation and efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) Samarinda Branch and Loa Janan Sanga Site collaborate with the Samarinda City Government to plant 500 trees in the Makroman Biodiversity Park (Kehati), Samarinda. This initiative reflects the real synergy between the business sector and the local government in expanding green open spaces and supporting environmental sustainability in Samarinda.

The tree planting is carried out by the Deputy Mayor of Samarinda, H. Saefuddin Zuhri, S.E., M.M; Branch Manager of UT Samarinda Branch, Riston Julius Tarigan; Service Department Head of UT Loa Janan Sanga Site, Andik Sugiarto; representatives from the Samarinda City Environmental Agency; environmental communities; and local residents.

UT Samarinda Branch Manager, Riston Julius Tarigan, emphasizes that this initiative is part of the implementation of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles consistently carried out by UT across its business lines. “We are not only focused on business achievements but also strive to make a positive contribution to the environment and society. Planting 500 trees is a simple yet meaningful step toward cleaner air, a greener city, and sustainable living,” says Riston.

The Deputy Mayor of Samarinda, who also attends the event, expresses appreciation for the collaboration and highlights the importance of private-sector involvement in urban greening efforts. “Maintaining environmental balance cannot be done by the government alone. Collaboration between the government, businesses, and the community is essential. We appreciate UT’s initiative in supporting the realization of Samarinda as a green and climate-resilient city,” he says.

The tree species planted include Ulin, Gaharu, Mahogany, Sengon, Meranti, Johan, and Balangkaren—selected for their high carbon absorption capacity and natural shade benefits in the park area. As part of the continuity of the program, UT maintains the trees for the next year, including watering, fertilizing, and replacing any seedlings that fail to grow, to ensure long-term ecological benefits.

This activity aligns with UT’s commitment to supporting the government’s target of achieving net-zero emissions and the implementation of sustainability principles across all branches and operational sites. Through this tree-planting initiative, UT hopes to encourage broader collaboration in preserving nature and integrating greening efforts as part of a sustainable lifestyle.
