Red onion harvesting activity during the second planting season with Karya Makmur Sentosa Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in Karanglo Village, Kerek District, Tuban Regency.

Tuban, September 30, 2026 – PT United Tractors Semen Gresik (UTSG), a subsidiary of PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), together with Karya Makmur Sentosa Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in Karanglo Village, Kerek District, Tuban Regency, records an increase in red onion production during the second planting season. The harvest generates approximately Rp90 million in revenue for the BUMDes, marking positive progress in developing village-based productive economic activities.

This achievement reflects the continued development of the village’s agricultural business initiatives. Despite the increase in production, the second harvest also highlights challenges arising from fluctuations in commodity prices, with red onion selling prices lower than those recorded during the first harvest. These conditions offer valuable insights to further improve production efficiency, business management, and agricultural marketing strategies.

Karya Makmur Sentosa BUMDes Director Nurhadi expressed appreciation for UTSG’s ongoing support and commitment to strengthening the village’s food security program. He emphasizes that the results of the second planting season serve as further motivation to sustain and expand the initiative.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to PT UTSG for its continued support and commitment to accompanying the food security program implemented by the village. During the second planting season, red onion production increased and generated approximately Rp90 million in revenue. Although the current selling price is lower than that of the first harvest, this achievement provides valuable experience and motivation for us to continue developing the program in the future,” says Nurhadi.

Meanwhile, UTSG CSR & Communication representative Moh Wildan Maulana emphasizes that the program extends beyond agricultural productivity and economic returns, focusing on delivering tangible benefits to surrounding communities. The latest harvest involves dozens of local residents, both men and women, who actively participate in the harvesting process.

“This is one of the indicators that the program has created opportunities for community involvement while contributing positively to local economic empowerment,” says Wildan.

UTSG supports the initiative by providing agricultural cultivation assistance and working closely with the village government and BUMDes to strengthen productive economic activities. The program forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to promoting community empowerment and enhancing food security in areas surrounding its operations.

Looking ahead, UTSG aims to further develop red onion cultivation as a sustainable source of economic opportunities for local communities while strengthening food security in Karanglo Village. The company remains committed to working closely with the village government and BUMDes to enhance the program’s long-term sustainability and expand its positive impact on the wider community.
