PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) is committed to developing competent human resources in Indonesia’s heavy equipment industry. To achieve this goal, UT School, the institution that offers mechanical skills and heavy equipment operator education, has reopened the 33rd batch of heavy equipment training classes in Sorong. This initiative is aimed at improving the quality of competent human resources in eastern Indonesia, especially Papua, and addressing the skills gap in the heavy equipment industry. The inauguration of the new class was held at the UT School Sorong Building on 1 September 2023.

The opening of this new class in heavy equipment is a form of UT School’s support for government policy in realizing a link and match between schools and the industrial world. Students who undergo training at UT School will later become mechanics and heavy equipment operators, where these two professions support the running of industries and businesses operating in various sectors such as mining, plantations, and construction.

“Our goal is to continuously improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia, with a particular focus on Papua. To achieve this, we are opening a new class at UT School, hoping to produce graduates who can compete in the industrial world and make positive contributions to their region. Additionally, we aim to increase the rate of employment for SMA/SMK graduates at UT School in the coming years,” said Branch Operational Head Hartanto Dwi Kurniawan.

The event was attended by Suroso S.IP., MA., (Head of the Manpower, Transmigration, Energy and Mineral Resources Department of Southwest Papua Province), Nurhayati Marasabessy (Head of the Sorong City Manpower Service), Nur Alam (representative of Commander of Infantry Battalion 762 VYS), Arbangi (Head of Modellink Vocational School), and Hamdan Aziz (Director of UT School).

UT School was founded in 2008 to become the best educational institution for mechanical skills and heavy equipment operators worldwide. UT School has graduated more than 7000 graduates who have worked at UT, its subsidiaries, and UT customers.
