Jakarta, May 26, 2025 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) receives the Dedicated Industry Appreciation award from the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Dikdasmen) during the 2025 National Education Day Celebration Night held at the Ministry’s office in Jakarta. The award recognizes UT as an industry partner that contributes to the development of vocational high schools (SMK) by supporting school transformation programs that foster relevant and sustainable vocational education in Indonesia.

UT is acknowledged for its tangible dedication as a driving force in the sustainable transformation of vocational high schools, supporting the employment readiness of SMK graduates and managing guided school programs. Since 2007, UT supports over 1,700 schools across Indonesia through various comprehensive vocational development initiatives.

These programs are designed to bridge the gap between the education sector and the industrial world by implementing the government’s “link and match” approach. Interventions are carried out holistically, ranging from curriculum development and technical/non-technical skills training for students to capacity building for teachers and school principals.

UT’s CSR Manager, Himawan Sutanto, expresses gratitude to the Ministry of Education for the recognition. He states that the award motivates the company to continue contributing to the strengthening of vocational education in Indonesia. UT believes sustainable collaboration between industry and education produces high-quality human resources ready to compete in the workforce.

“Vocational education development must involve synergy between the education sector, government, and industry—the essence of ‘link and match.’ Many SMK graduates still lack an understanding of work ethics and industrial culture; often, teachers have never experienced a real working environment. As a result, teaching and learning processes become less relevant to current industry needs. If this issue is not addressed soon, it could impact both development sustainability and the business world. Therefore, the industry’s role is vital, especially in influencing curricula and enhancing educators’ competencies,” says Himawan Sutanto.

To date, UT implements 14 vocational development programs targeting key areas—from curriculum enhancement (software) and facilities (hardware) to human capacity development (brainware) for teachers and school leaders. These efforts extend beyond major cities to underserved and remote regions, including 3T areas (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions) such as Timika, ensuring equitable access to quality education.

The results of these initiatives are evident. The duration of job training for fresh graduates, which could take up to two years, now reduces to as little as six months, depending on the job role. This indicates that graduates from UT-guided schools are job-ready and can contribute to reducing unemployment rates among SMK and high school graduates.

Driven by the spirit of building the future through education, UT commits to expanding the reach of its programs, strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders, and fostering innovation in vocational development. These efforts aim to empower Indonesia’s young generation to face global challenges with strong competence, character, and determination.
