Speech by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin during the announcement of Proper 2022 that was held at the Vice Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta, on 29/12/2022.

Jakarta, December 29th,2022 – At the end of 2022, PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) with the stock code UNTR again won a green rating for the consistency of sustainable environmental management in the company performance rating assessment program (Proper) from the Indonesia’s  Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). This year is the second time in a row that UT has received a green rating, in the automotive product group category. This award was announced in a hybrid manner, at the Palace of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Central Jakarta, (29/12).

Head of Corporate Governance & Sustainability, Sara K. Loebis emphasized that this appreciation has further motivated UT to improve the company’s performance in implementing green industry principles and having a positive impact on Indonesian society in line with the AHEMCE Sustainability Aspiration 2030.

“This award is proof that UT has high commitment to environmental management and community empowerment through the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). This award is also a form of company credibility to received recognition from the Indonesia’s government, especially the Ministry of Environment and Forestry for UT’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs),” said Sara K. Loebis.

Proper with a green rating is a criterion for companies that have performed better environmental management than required. These requirements cover the implementation of an environmental management system, energy efficiency efforts, emission reduction, efficient use of resources, protection of biodiversity, 3R of B3 waste and non-B3 solid waste, and community empowerment. In this case, the KLHK assesses that UT has carried out all of its responsibilities properly.

The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin emphasized that Proper aims to encourage every industrial business activity to always comply with environmental regulations while at the same time being able to run a sustainable business by applying green economy principles.

“I congratulate the company that received the Proper award, the performance of the company that received the award has proven to be at the forefront of environmental management. The winners are an inspiration and motivation for other companies to do the same in order to honor Indonesia as a nation that is respected by the world and is successful in managing a sustainable environment,” said Ma’ruf Amin.

In an effort to achieve a green rating at the Proper award, UT has realized a number of concrete initiatives in the environmental sector and also community empowerment, one of which is UT presenting the Aviary in the UT Head Office office area as an innovation in protecting biodiversity, especially in conservation areas and as a form of implementation the 15th goal in the SDGs.

In community empowerment, UT innovates the digital transformation of the SOBAT program (UT Fostered Schools) as a medium for accelerating the improvement of the quality of education and training for approximately 1,300 UT assisted schools spread throughout Indonesia. This program aims to improve the quality of HR (Human Resources) so that they are able to produce qualified and competent graduates.

In addition, UT runs CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program in the field of disaster called UTACTION. Through this program, UT responds quickly to provide assistance to the Indonesian people affected by the disaster. The contribution of this program has taken place in a number of disaster locations, one of which is in Lumajang, East Java, after the eruption of Mount Semeru in 2021.

In order to accelerate the return of community activities and improve the quality of life of the people affected by the disaster, UT provided assistance in the form of 100 Temporary Shelters (Huntara) and 1 Elementary School (SD) unit in the area. Going forward, UT will continue to be committed and actualize concrete actions in making positive contribution to the environment and society for a better future for the nation.
