Makassar, July 6th,2023 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) reaffirms its commitment to improving the quality of education in Indonesia through the UT Fostered Schools (SOBAT) program. This time, UT held a Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) in the Makassar area, which took place at the UT Makassar Branch. UT carries out this program to implement Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) around the Company’s operational areas.

The SOBAT area coordination meeting in Makassar was held for two days on July 5-6, 2023. In practice, this activity discussed evaluation and the SOBAT 2023 Grand Plan, which contained progress, achievements, feedback, and needs that still needed to be met by each school. 20 UT-assisted schools are participating in this program.

UT’s CSR Manager, Himawan Sutanto, said in his speech that the SOBAT Coordination Meeting is a momentum for UT and education stakeholders to synergize SOBAT 2023 programs. This coordination meeting is also a forum for UT to explore further the potential of the students at the assisted schools through some programs prepared this year.

“The SOBAT Coordination Meeting in the Makassar area was organized as UT’s effort to create a program that can produce graduates who are experts in their fields and build a good school reputation and become a school of excellence,” said Himawan Sutanto.

The discussions held at the SOBAT Coordination Meeting succeeded in drawing several conclusions, including the formation of the SOBAT community in the Eastern Indonesia Region (Katimin) area, which covers the areas of Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua with the election of Sabri (Principal of SMKN 3 Gowa) as chairman and Agus Palimbong (Principal of School) SMK Kr. Harapan Rantepao) as vice chairman. In addition, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) related to the SOBAT program by UT with three schools, namely SMKN 8 Palu, Andika Mebali Tana Toraja Vocational School, and Nusantara Rantepao Vocational School.

Furthermore, UT, along with 20 assisted schools, signed the SOBAT Commitment to Action in the Katimin area to run 14 SOBAT programs consisting of curriculum and learning methods, student skills competitions, SOBAT competitions, production-based factories, teacher and student training, teacher apprenticeship and students, student competency tests, teacher certification and competence, industrial culture, UT School recruitment, industrial visits, teaching aids, standardization of classes and workshops, as well as a safety center.

SOBAT is UT’s sustainability initiative program included in the CSR pillar in education or UT for Education and Bright Future (UTFUTURE). SOBAT has fostered 1,614 schools spread throughout Indonesia that aim to build the nation’s future through coaching and mentoring programs at various levels of school education in Indonesia. This program aligns with the fourth point of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to inclusive and equitable quality education.

Through the UT’s contribution, it is hoped that all assisted schools can increase their capacity, be more resilient, and positively impact the surrounding area. In addition, this program is part of the Company’s efforts to create added value and foster a more talented, competitive, and independent Indonesian young generation.
