Jakarta, November 1st,2022 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) with the stock code UNTR signed an MoU with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) regarding the Provision of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) and the Sale and Purchase Agreement for Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) on Energy Transition Day, Tuesday (01/11) at the Sofitel Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali.

The signing of this agreement is UT’s commitment to ensure that the electricity that is used is sourced from renewable energy. This strategic step also strengthens UT’s role in supporting the presence of a renewable energy transition as a step towards the 2060 net zero emission target.

In signing this certificate, the Head of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Division, Sara K. Loebis said the collaboration between UNTR as a company that has worked for more than 50 years in Indonesia and PLN aims to have a good impact through company steps that prioritize sustainable business principles and implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) aspects to realize the goals of sustainable development or the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).

“As one of the corporate transition strategies in the energy sector, UT has established an EBT business that is in line with its business development strategy in the environmentally friendly energy sector. Hopefully, this collaboration with PT PLN can play a role as a connector for the energy and information industry in Indonesia, as well as realizing energy transition initiatives that can contribute to environmental sustainability,” said UT’s Head of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Division, Sara K. Loebis.

Through the REC purchase agreement, in collaboration with the Clean Energy Investment Accelerator (CEIA), UT has proof of ownership of international standard certificates to use electricity generated from renewable energy plants. In the REC agreement, the total supply of clean energy electricity reaches 18.46-terawatt hours (TWh).

“As a service facility that can support customers in a sustainable business, the presence of this REC service follows the development of customer needs in line with global demands for the use of EBT. Through the REC, PT PLN presents procurement options to meet the target of up to 100 percent use of renewable energy,” said the President Director of PT PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo.

In addition to signing the REC, UT has been present by bringing and implementing leading and environmentally friendly technological approaches through products, services, and business processes to create sustainable added value for the benefit of the whole nation. This is a form of company consistency in a sustainable business journey.

Apart from being attended by UT, the signing of the REC was also attended by five other companies, which are PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), PT Asahimas Chemical, PT Bumi Suksesindo, PT MMS Group Indonesia, and PT Indo Kordsa Tbk. With the REC, PT PLN hopes that the industrial sector can more easily access clean energy.
