Amidst the many challenges of sustainable development faced by the nation, a glimmer of hope emerges from the hands of Indonesia’s youth. They come not only with passion but with real solutions. PT Kalimantan Prima Persada (KPP Mining) supports young changemakers through the KPP Mining Youth in Action 2024 initiative, offering a platform, support, and appreciation to those striving to make a tangible impact. The event takes place in Jakarta.
This program recognizes high school and university students from across the country who design and implement social projects supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Focusing on themes such as health, education, environment, and economy, it provides a platform for youth-driven solutions born from empathy and courage to make a difference.
“Youth in Action” manifests KPP Mining’s commitment to empowering young people as change agents. This program is not just about competition—it is about fostering empathy, innovation, and sustainability within communities,” says KPP Mining President Director Wahyu Widaryanto. More than a competition, the program serves as a stage to initiate change. Since opening in November 2024, a total of 618 proposals are submitted by 531 universities and 87 high schools across 24 provinces in Indonesia. Each proposal reflects concern for social and environmental issues, offering practical, actionable solutions.
After a rigorous selection process, 25 teams receive grants of IDR 15 million (for the high school level) and IDR 20 million (for the university level). Over four months, the teams carry out their social projects with guidance from expert mentors who help them turn ideas into impactful actions.
Beyond numbers and data, inspiring stories emerge from participants who pour their hearts into developing and implementing their projects. At the Awarding Day, KPP Mining honors the winners and highlights the inspiring journeys of the teams behind these social initiatives. “Winning is important, but what matters even more is having the mindset of a winner—because the true value of this program lies in the process and sincerity of creating change,” says Widaryanto.
The event involves a panel of judges from diverse backgrounds, including Almatul Rahim and Rachman Kurniawan from Seknas SDGs Indonesia, Nuril Furkan from the Ministry of Education (Dikdasmen), Maria R. Nindita Radyati from the Institute for Sustainability & Agility, and internal representatives from KPP Mining, Novitasari Ratna Dewi, and Daniel Angga Sembara.
One of the judges, Nuril Furkan, shares an inspiring message with the participants: “You must always be driven to learn. It’s not always about chasing awards—it’s about how your project delivers impact. Great individuals are those who bring change. Keep growing, innovating, and be part of shaping the future. You are the chosen ones—prove it.”
Through Youth in Action, KPP Mining holds a competition and plants seeds of hope for the rise of a socially aware, compassionate, and courageous generation ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow. Real change is in their hands—not just a dream, but impactful action.
