Jakarta, August 24th,2023 – As a form of commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in various aspects of life, PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) organized the 2023 Journalist Workshop with the theme of “Diversity and Inclusion in Newsrooms: Fostering Representation and Equitable Reporting”. The event was attended by national media journalists and UT Group’s Person in Charge (PIC) Corporate Communication (Corcom) at the Grand Ballroom of UT Head Office, Jakarta.

The keynote speaker of this event was Dr.Usman Kansong, S.Sos, M.Si. (Director General of Public Information and Communication, Ministry of Communications and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia), who delivered material related to Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion in the Newsroom. “Diversity is an important thing that must be maintained in a relatively free democratic era. Towards unity, media, government, and private companies need to prioritize and accept diversity, equality, and inclusivity as a necessity,” said Usman Kansong.

In his speech, the Director of UT, Edhie Sarwono, explained that diversity should be maintained, including in the corporate environment. DEI is every company’s basic principle or foundation to maintain inclusivity.

“Welcome to mini-Indonesia, where UT has employees of various races, ethnicities, and religions. UT always provides equal opportunities for all parties through its support and contributions. We hope that all national media journalists can support the various efforts that UT has made in implementing DEI principles,” said Edhie Sarwono.

Through the 2023 Journalist Workshop, UT hopes to be perceived as a sustainable company in the eyes of the public and the media by facilitating the delivery of the benefits through DEI principles implementation, including in the newsroom. In addition, it is hoped to build partnerships that generate more diverse resources through story ideas and collaboration for more inclusive reporting.
