PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in disaster management (UTACTION), has collaborated with the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta) to organize the Disaster Preparedness Education Festival (Fesdikgana) in 2023. Various schools in DKI Jakarta attended this festival, on August 28 – October 16, 2023, at the Discovery Room, Corporate University UT.

Fesdikgana aims to enhance students’ understanding of the importance of preparedness in facing natural disasters and the steps to take when dealing with them. UT’s collaboration with BPBD represents a commitment to support local government efforts to improve disaster preparedness and response.

Sara K. Loebis, Head of the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Division, expressed gratitude to BPBD for their willingness to collaborate in enhancing disaster preparedness education for students. With this collaboration, UT will continue consistently collaborating with various stakeholders to create a resilient disaster-prepared community.

“We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration because UT can provide a platform for students to increase their knowledge in disaster management. We believe that the knowledge imparted can catalyze greater awareness and understanding of disaster vulnerabilities in the environment and knowing the correct steps to address them,” said Sara K. Loebis.

The event featured two sessions. Firstly, there are several competitions consisting of preliminary rounds to the final. The competitions included a Quiz Contest participated by 98 high and vocational schools in Jakarta, a Disaster Video Competition involving 112 schools from elementary and middle schools, and a Scientific Paper Competition with 31 teams from high schools and state universities. Competitions were judged by competent judges in the field, including Bambang Surya Putra (Head of the Control and Operations Center of BNPB), Trinirmalaningrum (Director of the Skala Indonesia Foundation), and Ayu Wahyuningtyas (Lecturer at Budi Luhur University).

In the second session, the executive remarks were delivered, followed by a presentation on Disaster Preparedness by Ninil Riyati (the Director of the Lingkar Association—an organization involved in disaster risk reduction). After the presentation, there was a video screening, an announcement of competition winners, and a group photo.

At the end of the event, UT received four awards from BPBD DKI Jakarta, including recognition as a Disaster Preparedness Collaborator in DKI Jakarta, RW 01 Cakung Barat as a resilient village under UT’s guidance, a disaster readiness pilot program in RW DKI Jakarta, and serving as a pilot school for the SOBAT TANGGUH program in DKI Jakarta.

This collaboration represents a significant step for UT in shaping a generation prepared to face disaster challenges, emphasizing the importance of education and engagement in creating a resilient community. It aligns with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation aspects to create community sustainability through disaster mitigation and preparedness.

Key figures in attendance at the event included Sara K. Loebis (Head of Corporate Governance & Sustainability at UT), Himawan Sutanto (Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Communication Dept. at UT), Isnawa Adji (Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta), Bambang Surya Putra (Head of the Control and Operations Center of BNPB), Purwosusilo (Acting Head of the Jakarta Education Department), Trinirmalaningrum (Director of the Skala Indonesia Foundation), and Ninil Riyati Miftahul (Leader of the National PRB Platform).

“BPBD would like to thank UT for the cooperation that has been established. “Through this collaboration, we hope to continue collaborating along to create disaster-resilient communities that can carry out prevention and management in each area in a sustainable manner,” said Isnawa Adji.
