Jakarta, July 7, 2026 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk, collaborates with regional governments and vocational schools to organize the Heavy Equipment Engineering Student Skills Competition (Lomba Kompetensi Siswa/LKS Teknik Alat Berat) across East Java, Central Java, South Sulawesi, and South Kalimantan.

The competition is conducted in stages from April to June 2026, involving vocational schools across the four provinces. Beyond serving as a competitive platform, the program provides industry-based learning experiences through the involvement of professional judges, industry practitioners, and assessment standards aligned with current industry needs.

In East Java, the competition, held at SMK Negeri 5 Surabaya, is participated in by 16 schools from UT’s SOBAT (Sekolah Binaan United Tractors) program. Meanwhile, in Central Java, the competition takes place at SMK Ma’arif NU 1 Sumpiuh in Banyumas and involves 16 vocational schools from 11 regencies and municipalities. The event also highlights the inspiring achievement of Nia Aulia Jayanti from SMK Ma’arif NU 1 Sumpiuh, whose victory reflects the growing participation of women in the field of Heavy Equipment Engineering.

The Heavy Equipment Engineering Student Skills Competition also marks a milestone in South Sulawesi as the province’s first-ever competition in this field. Held at the UT Corporate University Training Center, Makassar Branch, the event is organized in collaboration with the South Sulawesi Provincial Education Office. This initiative represents an important first step toward establishing a sustainable vocational talent development ecosystem.

“Developing a highly skilled workforce begins with the courage to invest in the younger generation. Through the Heavy Equipment Engineering Student Skills Competition, UT and the South Sulawesi Provincial Education Office are providing more than just a competition; we are building a talent development ecosystem that connects classrooms with the industrial world,” says H. Hery Sumiharto, S.E., M.Ed., Head of the Vocational School Development Division at the South Sulawesi Provincial Education Office.

Meanwhile, in South Kalimantan, the competition involves 13 vocational schools from across the province. Held at the UT Banjarmasin Branch Office, the event serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their competencies and prepare the province’s representatives for the national-level Student Skills Competition.

UT CSR Manager Himawan Sutanto emphasizes that vocational education is a long-term investment in strengthening the nation’s competitiveness.

“UT believes that collaboration among educational institutions, government, and industry is the foundation for developing outstanding and job-ready talent. Through this program, we aim to provide learning experiences that are aligned with industry needs while creating opportunities for young people to maximize their potential. We hope this initiative continues to produce competent, resilient vocational graduates who contribute to Indonesia’s future development,” says Himawan Sutanto.

Through the Student Skills Competition, UT not only enhances the competencies of vocational school students but also strengthens collaboration between the education sector and industry in preparing vocational talent to meet workforce demands. The program forms part of the implementation of UT for Education and Bright Future (UTFUTURE), reflecting the Company’s commitment to supporting high-quality and sustainable vocational education in Indonesia.
