Surabaya, December 04, 2025 – Amid the increasing risks of natural disasters and the growing impact of climate change, PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) recognizes that community resilience is not built solely through rapid response, but through consistent, collaborative, and sustainable commitment. Through a disaster management system based on the pre-disaster, disaster response, and recovery pillars, UT strives to serve as a partner that not only provides assistance but also strengthens community capacity.

“For us, building resilience is not merely about providing aid during disaster events, but ensuring that communities have the capacity to be prepared, responsive, and able to recover faster. All these achievements are the result of strong collaboration between local residents and regional governments. UT will continue to be part of an ecosystem that promotes preparedness, restores the environment, and reinforces the foundations of community life,” said Badrun Radhi, Branch Operations Head of UT Surabaya Branch.

In the pre-disaster phase, UT developed various mitigation programs, including the Disaster Resilient Village (KATANA) initiative in Batu City, East Java. At the same time, UT strengthened environmental conservation efforts through forest revegetation and the development of the Unity Proklim Lestari Village Program on the slopes of Mount Arjuno, an initiative that has now become a national model for community-driven environmental transformation.

Significant progress has taken place across four assisted villages: Tulungrejo, Tawangargo, Giripurno, and Sumbergondo. Along with the Environmental Agency, Forestry Agency, and the local community, UT rehabilitated 567 hectares of degraded land, planted more than 110,000 productive trees, and established an integrated mitigation system. Farmers who once relied on limited crops now have alternative livelihoods as fruit growers, doubling their monthly income. This demonstrates that conservation efforts can be effectively integrated with community welfare.

Waste management transformation at the village level has also yielded remarkable results. Previously generating 22 tons of waste per month in 2023, the community has now turned waste into an economic resource through TPS3R processing, waste banks, composting, and maggot cultivation. By 2024, Sumbergondo Village had gradually stopped sending waste to the Batu City landfill,an achievement made possible through the strong synergy between residents, government institutions, and UT.

In the disaster response phase, UT ensures community preparedness through various initiatives, including disaster risk mapping and analysis, KATANA implementation, capacity building for assisted schools through SOBAT Tangguh, participation in National Disaster Preparedness Day (HKB), Disaster Risk Reduction Month (PRB), the Disaster Preparedness Education Festival (FESDIKGANA), and inclusive disaster-preparedness board games designed for children with disabilities.

On November 27, 2025, UT conducted an earthquake and family evacuation simulation at the UT Surabaya Branch, in collaboration with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), SatBrimob POLDA JATIM Surabaya, and the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS). The simulation incorporated the use of “Red Code,” an emergency button application developed by UT to accelerate coordination during disaster situations or emergencies.

In the recovery phase, UT focuses on long-term rehabilitation efforts in Lumajang following the eruption of Mount Semeru. These efforts include the construction of permanent housing (Huntap), the rebuilding of Sumberwuluh 02 Public Elementary School, and the establishment of a monitoring post equipped with CCTV cameras. Additionally, UT provides training for community members in the Disaster Resilient Village of Sumbermujur and educational programs for students at Sumberwuluh 02 Public Elementary School.

As a rapid response to the November 19, 2025, eruption of Mount Semeru, UT distributed logistical assistance to several affected locations, including staple food supplies for public kitchens in Supit Urang Village and relief packages for displaced families in Sumbermujur Village. UT also supported the Candipuro Field Post with vitamins, masks, eye drops, and portable oxygen. In the education sector, UT organized social support activities for child survivors at Supiturang 4 Public Elementary School and provided school supplies for Supiturang 1 Public Elementary School.

From the slopes of Arjuno to the evacuation sites in Lumajang, one thing remains clear: resilience cannot be built by one party alone. Communities, government institutions, and the private sector must work together to support one another. Through these initiatives, UT remains committed to delivering real impact. The assisted villages now stand as proof that environmental preservation, economic growth, and disaster preparedness are interconnected, each forming part of a collaborative journey toward a sustainable future.
