Jakarta, June 10th,2023 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) is committed to continuing the implementation of the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles in all of its operational activities. UT, in collaboration with the DKI Jakarta Diaspora, supported SOIna athletes at the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games (SOWSG) in Berlin, Germany. Before heading to the SOWSG championship, UT, together with the Diaspora of DKI Jakarta Province, held a farewell event for SOIna athletes at Le Meridien Hotel in Jakarta.

UT, through the “Inspiring Youth” program with the DKI Jakarta Diaspora, supports coaching athletes with disabilities to develop their abilities, mentally and physically. In addition, UT also contributes by providing necessary facilities in the form of equipment for the athletes and facilitating social gatherings with SOIna officials, Jakarta Diaspora, and parents of the athletes.

UT also collaborated with Special Olympic Indonesia (SOIna) Jakarta to conduct training. SOIna is the only organization in Indonesia that has received accreditation from Special Olympics International (SOI) to organize sports training and competitions for mentally retarded (intellectually disabled) citizens in Indonesia.

There were three delegates consisting of 2 athletes and 1 SOIna coach from DKI Jakarta Province who represented Indonesia in this event, including Latipah Zahfir from the artistic gymnastics branch and Afrah Nada A. from the rhythmic gymnastics branch, as well as coach Elma Maulida W. from the athletics branch table tennis.

“Support given to athletes with disabilities is a form of corporate social responsibility. Through this program, UT continues to implement sustainability principles in the Company to deliver positive impacts on society,” said Himawan Sutanto, UT’s CSR Manager.

UT hopes that these three delegations can achieve prestigious accomplishments that will bring honor to Indonesia on the international stage. In addition, UT’s active contribution to developing the potential of Indonesia’s young generation not only has a positive impact on the athletes being nurtured but also inspires Indonesian society.

As additional information, SOWSG is the largest inclusive sports event in the world, which is held for nine days. This event provides an opportunity for people with disabilities and those without disabilities from various countries to participate. SOWSG has been held in 26 countries and is currently in its 16th edition, taking place in Berlin, Germany from June 12th to June 25th, 2023. The competition is attended by 7,000 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners from 170 countries, competing in 26 sports disciplines.
