Jakarta, October 13th, 2022 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) is holding the 2022 SOBAT Competition to support improving the quality of vocational education and creating accomplished youth who are ready to enter job market. This activity is a form of the Company’s contribution to deliver positive impact through the CSR program in the field of education (UTFUTURE) by implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects. High school/vocational/equivalent students and also polytechnic/university students are among the participants of the competition.
“Through SOBAT Competition program, United Tractors is committed to improve the quality of vocational education while implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Besides, this competition is a form of implementing the 14 pillars of the SOBAT program to grow, accommodate and produce creative and innovative ideas from students and vocational school students,” said UT’s CSR Manager, Himawan Sutanto.
During its 50 years of existence, United Tractors continues its commitment to contribute to the welfare and sustainability of the nation in all of its operational areas and making innovation an inherent culture in developing its businesses.
SOBAT Competition 2022 is a competition for vocational schools that aims to improve the competence of vocational world through innovation and to prepare youth to be able to compete in the workplace. The limited amount of innovations produced in the vocational world especially in the Heavy Equipment Engineering Study Program (TAB) due to the lack of competition between vocational schools, both in technical competence and innovative ideas, is the background for UT to create this competition. In the future, quality of the innovations produced will be an important factor in this program, so it can provide benefits and be highly competitive.
Since launched in 2019, SOBAT Competition has received a positive response. This is reflected in the increasing number of participants every year. SOBAT Competition 2022 was attended by 435 innovation teams consisting of two levels. At the University/Polytechnic level, there are 60 general innovations, while at the SMK/SMA level there are 287 general innovations and 88 TAB innovations. The SOBAT Competition 2022 itself has passed the final stage of selection, which leaves 15 general innovations at the High school/vocational and University/Polytechnic level.
Furthermore, the team that passes to the final stage will prepare final presentation material and deliver prototype to be exhibited at the SOBAT Competition 2022 showcase booth on the 50th anniversary of UT. In addition, the team that passes to the final stage will receive fund of Rp 2 Million for the SMA/SMK category, and Rp 3 Million for the Polytechnic/University category.
Through the 2022 SOBAT Competition program, UT aims to have positive impact on improving the achievements and competencies of vocational school students to be a competitive, strong, and contributive individuals for Indonesia in the future.
