Tanjung Enim, July 1, 2026 – As part of its commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), through UT School, collaborated with PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and PT Kanitra Mitra Jaya Utama (KAMAJU) to organize the Basic Mechanic Course Program. The program aimed to improve the quality of human resources in communities surrounding PTBA’s Tanjung Enim operational area. Through the structured training program, 19 participants from Lawang Kidul and Muara Enim Districts successfully graduated as job-ready heavy equipment mechanics.
In his remarks, Corporate Secretary Division Head of PTBA, Eko Prayitno, emphasized PTBA and KAMAJU’s commitment, together with UT through UT School, to empowering local communities through Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)-oriented initiatives, particularly in human resource development. The program aims to encourage regional economic independence while addressing the industry’s need for adaptive and highly competitive talent.
“We believe that a company’s greatest investment lies in strengthening human resource capacity. The Basic Mechanic Course, facilitated by UT through UT School as a Vocational Training Institution, provides young people in our operational areas with opportunities to grow by developing mechanical competencies aligned with market needs. This initiative reflects PTBA’s ongoing commitment to creating shared value, expanding access to employment opportunities, and strengthening the economic independence of local communities,” said Eko.
Held over a three-month period, the Basic Mechanic Course enabled participants to complete a comprehensive series of training and educational activities, including mental and character development (bintalsik), theoretical learning on heavy equipment mechanics, and field practice simulations. The program was systematically designed not only to enhance technical skills (hard skills), but also to develop professional work attitudes (soft skills) while emphasizing a strong safety culture in the workplace.
Echoing this commitment, Deputy Site Manager of UT Site Tanjung Enim, Sulaiman, emphasized that Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is a fundamental value that must be implemented by everyone in the industry.
“Technical competence must always go hand in hand with concern for the safety of oneself and others. Safety is not merely a set of rules, but must become a culture in every work activity,” he said.
Head of UT School Tanjung Enim, Edi Kurniawan, stated that the entire training program had been carried out effectively and in accordance with the established curriculum and competency targets.
“With the successful completion of the Basic Mechanic Course, we are confident that the technical skills and practical experience gained by participants throughout the training at UT School Tanjung Enim will serve as a strong foundation for entering a competitive workforce while further strengthening their expertise in heavy equipment mechanics,” said Edi.
Concluding the series of remarks, Sustainability Division Head of PTBA, Dedy Saptaria Rosa, encouraged the graduates to maintain a spirit of lifelong learning, continuously develop their competencies, and strengthen their capabilities amid the evolving dynamics of the modern industry.
“Graduating from the Basic Mechanic Course is not the end of the learning process, but rather the beginning of a journey to continuously improve one’s competencies. The industrial landscape will continue to evolve, so the spirit of learning and adapting must be maintained to face future challenges,” he said.
The participants’ successful completion of all training stages was officially recognized through a certificate presentation and graduation ceremony. The Closing Ceremony was also enlivened by a live performance presented by the participants, showcasing the creativity, teamwork, and spirit of togetherness they had developed throughout the training program.
As an appreciation for the participants’ dedication and commitment to learning, PTBA, KAMAJU, and UT School Tanjung Enim presented special awards to five outstanding participants. The award recipients demonstrated strong achievements in academic understanding, field practice, discipline, and professional character.
