Bali, October 30, 2023 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) received the Subroto 2023 award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia in the category of energy efficiency, sub-category of green buildings. This award demonstrates the company’s commitment to implementing best environmental practices and facilitating sustainable building industry transformation. The award was received directly by Sara K. Loebis (Corporate Secretary UT) at the Ballroom Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort.

The Subroto Award for Energy Efficiency is the highest award from the Ministry of ESDM to stakeholders who have successfully implemented energy efficiency programs, energy conservation, and greenhouse gas emission reduction. In this context, UT is recognized as a company committed to efficiently reducing energy consumption and balancing conventional energy sources with renewable energy.

Sara K. Loebis, Head of the UT Corporate Governance and Sustainability Division, expressed gratitude for the award. In the future, UT will consistently pursue various initiatives prioritizing sustainability principles.

“As part of our corporate strategy to address global warming, UT has incorporated sustainability principles into every aspect of our business operations, including energy efficiency and using Renewable New Energy (RNE), while maximizing workplace health and comfort. This aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting business sustainability. We hope these initiatives will positively impact environmental sustainability,” said Sara K. Loebis.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Directorate General of New Energy, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation, continues to promote the responsible and efficient use of energy using renewable energy. This also supports the achievement of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets, which include reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

“The energy transition is becoming more urgent and needs to be accelerated, especially considering the extreme phenomena in various world regions this year. Through the Subroto Award, we hope to contribute to the development of clean energy and drive the creation of innovations for clean energy development,” said Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

To achieve optimal energy management, UT has implemented environmentally friendly and sustainable design concepts for its buildings’ exterior and interior. For example, the central courtyard of the 10-story building is elevated to serve as an oasis for natural light and fresh air to flow throughout the construction. This space saves energy by integrating photovoltaic panels (solar panels), installing green walls, and recycling water through an environmentally friendly water treatment system.

Furthermore, regarding Appropriate Site Development, UT has a substantial green area of 10,399 square meters, equivalent to 44% of the total area, consisting of green spaces, vertical gardens, and roof gardens. With such extensive green spaces on the office premises, UT encourages employees to live a healthy lifestyle and supports reducing motor vehicle use by providing 100 dedicated bicycle parking spaces. UT also adopts a zero-runoff concept to reduce the volume of rainwater runoff, thus alleviating the burden on the city’s drainage system.

Through this award, UT is further encouraged to create a positive and sustainable environment for the surrounding community. According to UT, sustainability means more than just providing quality products and services; it also means adding value to stakeholders in line with the value chain, environmental sustainability, and the community’s overall well-being.
