Tuban, August 16th, 2022 – PT United Tractors Semen Gresik (UTSG) provides full support to Tunas Makmur small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through a production equipment grant in Tlogowaru Village, Merakurak District, Tuban, East Java Province. This initiative was driven by issues faced by Tunas Makmur SMEs, which are high production cost and low productivity of oyster mushrooms.

In the process of oyster mushroom cultivation, a grinding tool is needed to produce backlog material, i.e. the planting medium consisting of sawdust or husks and nutrients. Own-produced backlog can reduce daily production cost. The cost can then be allocated for other production purposes to increase efficiency, which will primarily increase productivity and efficiency.

The corporate social responsibility (CSR) team from PT UTSG was the initiator of the establishment of the SME. Initially, Tunas Makmur UKM was run by only two persons. Along with the current increase in production, Tunas Makmur UKM has empowered at least 15 residents in the oyster mushroom cultivation business. UT believes that through these assistance, SMEs in Indonesia can survive and even compete during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic turmoil.

The support for SME is in line with United Tractors’ commitment to contribute to the society, as part of the company’s initiatives to implement ESG and sustainable business principles.
