Jakarta, June 10th, 2023 – In an effort to enhance community understanding of disaster preparedness, PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), through its CSR program UTACTION (United Tractors for Emergency Response and Action), conducted a disaster emergency response education program called Kampung Tangguh Disaster (KATANA) for UT’s fostered community located in RW 01, West Cakung Village.

UT initiated this program based on Indonesia’s geological conditions, as the country is situated among three major tectonic plates, making it prone to disasters. Additionally, according to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), there have been 1,675 disasters recorded across Indonesia in 2023. This program represents the company’s commitment to raising awareness and knowledge among the ring-1-fostered community in disaster preparedness, prevention, and response.

“The Katana program is tangible evidence of UT’s concern for the communities surrounding the company’s operational areas. We organized this program as part of our commitment to strengthening Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation and delivering a positive impact on society,” said Himawan Sutanto, UT’s CSR Manager.

The event commenced with a socialization session on disaster preparedness in RW 01, Cakung Barat Urban Village, East Jakarta. It was attended by Suharyanti (Secretary of West Cakung Village), the UT ACTION Team, and the community members of RW 01, with a total of 50 participants. The Katana program will be conducted continuously to establish disaster preparedness groups in the communities situated near the company’s operational areas. Furthermore, this program aligns with the 7th objective of the 10 Sustainability Aspirations, namely Community Development.

Through these activities, the aim is to cultivate disaster-resilient communities that can sustainably minimize the occurrence of disasters in each respective area.
