Jakarta, November 29th,2022 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) collaborated with Waste4Change, a company providing responsible and trusted waste management solutions, in a program to avoid direct disposal of industrial waste to Final Disposal Site (TPA). This collaboration is UT’s sustainability initiative to implement ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and aspects within the company. This event officially took place on the 50th anniversary of UT (13/10).

Waste management with the 6R principles (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, recovery, and retrieve to energy) at the 50th anniversary of UT is part of the effort to achieve one of the UT Sustainability Aspiration 2030 initiatives, namely solid waste management. This program aims to generate positive impact of United Tractors’ operations the environment.

“As a company that has been established for 50 years in Indonesia, we have a strong commitment to creating a sustainable earth and realizing one of the 2030 Sustainability Aspirations by conducting a sustainability event program. This is in line with the theme of UT’s 50th anniversary, namely Working to Build Sustainability,” said Sara K. Loebis, Head of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Division.

Through the concept of a sustainability event, UT ensures that all the waste it produces will be managed according to the 6R principles. In the process, waste management starts with refuse and reduce, namely by providing a water station to refill drinking water and encouraging all employees and guests to bring their own drinking bottles to reduce of plastic waste.

In the recycle process, UT collaborates with Waste4Change to manage the waste it produces. This collaboration as a form of contribution to the zero waste to landfill program, which is a responsible waste management program to reduce the amount of waste in landfills.

In carrying out waste management, there are three stages carried out; waste transportation by Waste4Change, identification of waste generated and its composition, as well as reporting of indentified waste and its composition. Apart from involving Waste4Change as a provider of waste management services, this activity is also assisted by Mitra Bakti UT as the contractor in charge of operations in the UT Head Office area.

Through this program, UT hopes to reduce waste at the TPA and create a more effective and efficient circular economy. In addition, this program is also a form of support for the government’s strategic efforts in reducing and handling waste.
